PROJECTS
BART Oakland International Airport Connector Design-Build Project - Oakland, CA
The Oakland Airport Connector (OAC) links BART's Coliseum Station with the Oakland International Airport via a mostly elevated automated people mover (APM) system along Hegenberger Avenue. As a subconsultant to JV team, AMC performed special seismic analysis of the aerial structural system as required by Project Special Provisions. The tasks involved (1) modeling of different typical and non-standard aerial structural systems, (2) performing nonlinear time history analyses, and based on the results, (3) verifying the adequacy of the structural systems. AMC was also responsible for the Independent Check of the Coliseum Station. The Independent Check tasks included (1) modeling of the station structure, (2) performing pushover analysis of the system, and (3) verifying that all structural components met the codes described under project criteria, which required the station substructure to be designed following Caltrans Seismic Design Criteria (SDC).
Project Highlights:
- Seismic nonlinear time-history analysis
- Static pushover analysis
- Seismic performance evaluation of standard and nonstandard aerial structural systems
- Seismic performance check of station structure system
- Ductility evaluation of structural components
